Thierry d’ARGOUBET
Thierry d’Argoubet was formerly General Manager of Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse between the years 2000–2022. In the early days, he worked closely with the esteemed French conductor Michel Plasson until 2003 and was subsequently responsible for appointing Tugan Sokhiev as Principal Guest Conductor in 2005 and later Music Director of the orchestra in 2008.
With Sokhiev, d’Argoubet developed a successful and comprehensive international strategy for Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, bringing the orchestra and the name of Toulouse to a wider global audience. Between 2008-2020, the orchestra toured extensively for four to six weeks a year, including a residency at the Philharmonie de Paris, and tours to Asia, South America and the main concert halls of Europe. At the same time, the orchestra began strong media partnerships with Mezzo, medici.tv, ARTE, France Télévisions, France Musique and Radio Classique.
In March 2019, d’Argoubet founded and managed with Sokhiev as Artistic Director “Les Musicales Franco-Russes”, in partnership with “Le Dialogue de Trianon” supported by French President Emmanuel Macron.
From 1992-1999, d’Argoubet was Co-director of IMG Artists in France, organising major tours for leading European orchestras. During this time, he also established a partnership with the Mariinsky Theatre of St Petersburg and Valery Gergiev.
D’Argoubet was born in Toulouse, France, where in 1985 he founded “Les Grands Interprètes” – a concert series in Toulouse which involved world-renowned orchestras, conductors and top soloists. He received the awards of “Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres” (2014) and “Officier Palmes Académiques” (2013) from the French Ministry of Culture and Communication in recognition of his significant contribution and service to the arts.
