Maciej KOTARBA
Participant of 2018
Maciej Kotarba was the winner of the First Prize and Special Prize 2nd Adam Kopycinski Nationwide Conducting Competition. He was the semifinalist of The Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition and The 10th Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors. He was also a semifinalist of the RNCM Junior Fellow in Conducting in Manchester. He received a scholarship during International Conducting Masterclasses with Collin Metters.
In June 2017 he made his debut with The Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra. He performed with various orchestras, such as Sinfonietta Cracovia, State Youth Orchestra of Armenia, Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Carpathia, Magistri Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra and many student orchestras from Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw. He collaborated with i.a. Opole Philharmonic Orchestra, Sudeten Philharmonic Orchestra, Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra, Polish Radio Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, RNCM Chamber Orchestra. He assisted many polish well-known conductors, such as Grzegorz Nowak, Michał Klauza, Jan Miłosz Zarzycki, Warcisław Kunc and Jakub Chrenowicz.
He had an opportunity to enhance his conducting skills with many world-recognized conductors during Masterclasses and International Fellowships. In 2014 he studied at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna with Johannes Wildner and Uroš Lajovic. He also participated in many international conducting masterclasses, where he learned from finest conductors such as Collin Metters, Yaov Talmi and Rafal Delekta. He finished his master studies with Prof. Marek Pijarowski in The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. He also obtained master’s degree in violin performance The Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań.
